Stamp Prices Just Went Up

💸 Stamp Prices Just Went Up – Here’s What You Need to Know

As of Sunday, July 13, 2025, the cost of mailing a letter just got more expensive. The price of a Forever stamp jumped from 73¢ to 78¢ — a 5-cent increase.

Other postage rates also went up:

  • Metered mail (1 oz): from 69¢ to 74¢

  • Postcards (within the U.S.): from 56¢ to 61¢

  • International letters: from $1.65 to $1.70

  • Each additional ounce: now 29¢ instead of 28¢

These price increases are part of the U.S. Postal Service’s 10-year plan to become financially stable. The USPS has been losing billions each year and is trying to recover from rising costs and declining mail volume.

They’ve also said to expect rate hikes every January and July for the next few years — so this isn’t the last one.

✅ What You Can Do

  • Already bought Forever stamps? You’re good — they’ll still work no matter when you use them.

  • Mailing a lot soon? Buy stamps before price hikes if possible — it saves money long term.

  • Watch for future increases in 2026 and 2027.

In short: Mailing costs are going up — again — and more hikes are coming. If you use stamps regularly, it’s a good time to stock up.
